Come to Birmingham's next lecture to learn about one of the most fascinating women to rule China. On Wednesday morning on 13 November David Rosier, who lived and worked in the Far East for over 25 years, will reveal the life and achievements of one of the most important women in Chinese Imperial history. From relative obscurity as a low-ranking consort, in 1861 she became Dowager Empress Cixi ruling with full authority until her enforced retirement.
