Wrekin help preserve a unique architectural feature

The Arts Society Wrekin have given a financial boost to a local National Trust property raising money to conserve a unique architectural  feature.  Sunnycroft, the NT's Edwardian villa in Wellington, needs to completely refurbish its Halliday Glasshouse - one of only three surviving examples in the world.  The curator, Lou Hall, invited Telford College students to spend a day there to record their impressions of the site and the resulting artwork was displayed at Sunnycroft to encourage interest in the fundraising project.  Not only was the students’ work also exhibited at the College’s end-of-year show, and judged by The Arts Society Wrekin’s Young Arts team, but also some of the winning entries were displayed at the Wrekin's October meeting when David Franklin, the Society’s Chairman, presented a cheque for £500 to Sunnycroft’s curator.
