WREKIN SPONSORSHIP FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS

The Arts Society Wrekin is sponsoring five Shropshire Music Service virtual masterclasses for young instrumentalists on Saturdays during January and February.  Shropshire Music Service is very excited by this project which has been made possible by Wrekin’s sponsorship.  Instrumental pupils in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and West Midlands may participate.  After an open presentation by each musician pupils are then allocated to breakout groups for further tuition. The seniors are tutored by the musicians on each occasion.

“The first two sessions have gone down well, and when the fifth is completed next month we expect about 200 pupils will have attended, free of charge” said David Milledge, Wrekin’s Vice-chairman.  “It is difficult to find opportunities for effective Arts Volunteering during the pandemic, but we have found a way through cooperating with Shropshire Music Service.  We hope it will be a great boost to pupils at this bleak time.”
